KIKO's Ocean Feel Range || Is it actually Summer-proof?

KIKO Ocean Feel Summer-proof makeup review

As soon as I booked my holiday to Gran Canaries, I was excited for Summer. Which, if you know me, you'll know is rare - I'm more of an Autumn and Spring person if I'm honest. Anyway, being in the mood for Summer meant I was also in the mood for some seasonal products. So when I came across KIKO's Ocean Feel Summer-proof range, I was intrigued. The last few times I've been on holiday, I've put off wearing foundation as it tends to melt off my face, so was the Ocean Feel range the answer to all my problems? Or was it not as Summer-proof as promised?
KIKO Ocean Feel collection review

In the past, I've not been very brave when it comes to wearing highlighters and blushes, I always worried that my skin was too oily and pale to pull them off. However, over the past year, I've been trying a few blushes and highlighters out and I've quickly discovered that I can pull them off and they do make my skin look more radiant and alive.

Knowing this, when Summer came round, I was ready to find makeup that gave my skin a summer glow - Which is exactly what I hoped I get from these products I picked up from KIKO's Ocean Feel range.

Ocean Feel Multi-protection face fluid & fluid foundation 01 SPF 30

Ocean Feel Multi-protection face fluid & fluid foundation 01 SPF 30

These two are said to be highly effective waterproof formulas with SPF that are enriched with seaweed extracts and designed to hold even when it gets a bit too hot for people like me. I was really impressed with these two if I'm honest, but I don't think I needed both of them.

Initially, I was worried that the multi-protection face fluid would be a little bit too oily to go on under the foundation... However, I was wrong. I applied a small amount to my face after cleansing and moisturising and it blended in lovely. It sat nicely on my skin, ready for my foundation to go on over the top. I think this on its own would be ideal for days that you don't want to wear foundation and want a less oily alternative for a basic SPF. However, if you are going to be out in the sun for a long time, I'd recommend you pick up a better SPF product as I don't think would necessarily stop you from burning if you were out in it all day. I've been using it for when I'm out for a meal, at work, going shopping... Times when I'm not outside all day but might be for a period of time.

The fluid foundation, well... I thought this was going to be more of a CC for some reason, so I didn't expect much coverage. I was pleasantly surprised when I put some of it on the back of my hand, ready to apply it to my face and it came out rather thick. I took another foundation on holiday with me, just in case this one wasn't great coverage, but I didn't even get it out my bag in the end. This one did a great job at evening out my skin.

Not only did KIKO's Ocean Feel fluid foundation give me better coverage than I'd expected it also handled the heat better than expected. I wore it out for a wander around the port in the middle of the day, it the very hot sun. I was sure that it would melt off, I was so hot and even the car trip there had me sweating like mad. So when I got to the port, I checked it expecting to see it in patches, yet it still sat perfectly on my skin. I checked again when I got home in the evening, and I was surprised to see it still in place - Especially because I hadn't even topped it up or reapplied powder throughout the day.

Ocean Feel Powder Foundation SPF 50 "01 Fair"

Ocean Feel Powder Foundation SPF 50 "01 Fair"

Now I'll be honest, I haven't been using this as a foundation. I've been using it over the top of my foundation, for my very oily t-zone. Just like the multi-protection face fluid and the foundation, it contains SPF - Except this one is SPF 50, which is what I usually go for when it comes to protecting my skin from the sun.

I did pick up the lightest tone, however, I do think it's a tad bit too dark for my ghostly like skin. It's fine if I use it lightly over the top, but if I use the pad it comes with, it applies too much and too dark. Although I did love this powder and the fact that it mattifies my skin and doesn't go all patchy when I start sweating, I'm not sure I'd pick it up again. Why? Mainly because it's just too dark for me and the foundation didn't really need a mattifying powder over the top. I've been using the fluid foundation without the powder for work and it's coped well - Even when I spent all morning in the sun evacuated from our office because it was on fire.

Ocean Feel Blush "03 Flawless Skin"

Ocean Feel Blush "03 Flawless Skin"

I think this is the second blush I've ever bought and... I'll be honest, I am in love. What a gorgeous subtle blush. I wasn't sure what shade to get at first, as I didn't want something too pigmented or pink, so I picked up the "03 Flawless Skin" blush from the Ocean Feel collection because it seemed like the best one for my skin tone.
I was cautious at first, I didn't want two very rosy cheeks. Once I'd applied it, I realised that I needn't worry. The Ocean Feel blush gave my skin a lovely sun-kissed glow, perfect for a Summer look. My Zoella x Colourpop blush has been put away and my KIKO Ocean Feel blush has been kept out for Summer.

Ocean Feel Highlighter "01 Golden Vibes"

Ocean Feel Highlighter "01 Golden Vibes"

A Summer glow isn't something that I've really looked for in the past. However, like I said before, I've become a bit braver when it comes to highlighters and blushes. So when I saw KIKO's beautiful Golden Vibes highlighter in their Ocean Feel collection, I couldn't help but pick it up.

This highlighter is one of my favourite products from the collection. It's got such a lovely, subtle and healthy glow to it - Perfect for summer.

The thing I love most about this highlighter isn't just the lovely golden glow it gives my skin, but also that it's buildable. When I wear it out during the day, in the sun, I don't put as much on as the sun reflects perfectly off it. However, in the evening, when the sun is no longer around, I apply a bit more to give my skin more of an after sun evening glow - If you know what I mean? Definitely a must-have for Summer if you ask me.

Ocean Feel Eye Marker

Ocean Feel Eye Marker

When it comes to liquid eyeliners, I am very pedantic. Not long after I moved back to the UK, I discovered Soap & Glory's Supercat eyeliner and ever since, it's been my favourite. So I already knew when I bought this one, that it had very high expectations to live up to.

I nearly didn't buy this, as I am so picky when it comes to eyeliners. My go-to makeup look is winged eyeliner, so I need to know that I have a trusty and easy to use eyeliner. Unfortunately, this KIKO eyeliner was not it. First of all, I want to apologise for not getting a photo of the tip... I completely forgot because I looked kind of odd taking photos of makeup next to the pool. Anyway, The tip on their Ocean Feel eye marker was so thin, it really wasn't meant for wings. I really did try to use it but it just wasn't happening and I ended up using my Soap & Glory one. I then gave this one to my sister, as I thought it'd be perfect for a subtle outline of the eye... However, when she went to use it, strands of the felt applicator had split off to the side meaning she had to chop them off to be able to use them at all.

I have to say, this was a very disappointing product considering how well I got on with the rest of the Ocean Feel products.

Ocean Feel 03 Lipstick & Lipliner

Ocean Feel 03 Lipstick & Lipliner

Of course, I couldn't check out without picking up a red lipstick, who would I be if I didn't? They had two different types of lipsticks to pick from, this basic one or a sparkly one. Needless to say, a sparkly lipstick is just a step too far for me - I don't think I could pull that off.

I went for the "03 Coral Inside" lipstick and lipliner, I wanted a vibrant red for my holiday and this one was exactly that. This Ocean Feel lipstick has a lovely creamy texture that glides on over your lips without drying them out. I haven't had to top it up when I've worn it out either, I am really impressed with this little gem. I'll be picking more of KIKO's lipsticks up, that's for sure. Not only that, but the lid has a magnetic closing mechanism meaning the chances of it coming open in your bag and making a lovely red mess are low.

I have to say, I am really impressed with KIKO's Ocean Feel range and it is most definitely Summer-proof - Well, except for the eyeliner that is. I'd never tried anything from KIKO before even though I had heard so much about them. After trying these and being so pleasantly surprised by them, you'll probably be seeing a lot more of their products here on the blog.
