Botanical Lab Skincare for Blemished Skin

The New Year gave me a perfect excuse to change up my skincare. Although, I do that anyway... No excuses needed, I like trying out products. So when I came across Botanical Lab products on Superdrug's website, they sounded ideal. Budget friendly and aimed at acne-prone skin - So is it any good?

My skin is rather sensitive, anything it doesn't like will end up in a wonderful breakout. So when it comes to skincare, I am rather selective. What made me want to try the Botanical Lab Neem Leef face wash, was that not only is it supposed to fight blemishes and leave you with clear skin, it's also a gentle face wash. That's exactly what my skin needs at the moment.

My skin is dry because of the weather but also oily, blemished and breaking out a bit due to my rather unbalanced diet over Christmas. I know, how can my skin be dry and oily at the same time? Honestly, I don't know. However parts of my skin are dry as can be and parts are oily, it's great. Keeps me on my toes.

Neem Leaf Gentle Face Wash

"Cleansing and purifying without over-drying"

I'll be honest, before this I had no idea what Neem leaf was. Now I still don't really know what it is, but I do know that it clears acne, scars, pigmentation and blackheads. How have I not heard of this before? Sounds just like what I need. This face wash also contains salicylic acid,  which exfoliates your skin, unclogs your pores and helps reduce inflammation if you have acne prone skin, like me.

It's done a great job at gently cleaning my skin twice a day, without drying it out. Its also helped clear my skin, reducing my blemishes and clearing up my breakout.

Witch Hazel Mattifying Mist

"Helps balance sebum and calms blemish-prone skin"

Can't say I use facial mists that much, I don't recall ever using them before actually. I've used fixing sprays but that's it. So I was eager to know if they're any good and if a simple spritz could actually help balance out my skin.

This face mist contains witch hazel that helps shrink pores while also soothing your skin and relieving inflammation - Which is why it's commonly used in products to help clear up acne. It also contains aloe vera, allantoin and bisabolol. Aloe vera reduces skin irritations and inflammation, allantoin is a moisturising ingredient for sensitive skin and bisabolol is a healing ingredient that soothes, calms and reduces skin inflammation.

I have been using this every morning and although it is great at calming my skin, it's not very moisturising at all. Although, it is supposed to be used after a moisturiser so I doubt it's supposed to be very moisturising.

So, my final thoughts on these two Botanical Lab products? I am in love with the Neem Leaf face wash, it'll be my go-to when I find my skin needs something a bit more gentle and for under £5. As for the Witch Hazel face mist, I think it's great to use on those days when your skin is breaking out and your blemishes are out to play. It's rather calming and can be used throughout the day too - This one was also under £5.
