Blogmas Day 1 || Plans & Tips For This Years Blogmas

First of all, welcome to Blogmas here on Bethan's Blog. After the stress of last years Blogmas I wasn't sure if I'd be doing it again, but I decided in summer to give it another go and actually plan for it this time so hopefully it won't be as stressful. For my first post I thought I'd give you an idea of what I plan on posting this month and some tips in case you're doing Blogmas for the first time.
In the unlikely event of you not knowing what Blogmas is, let me explain. Blogmas: Posting everyday in December up to Christmas. Kind of like an advent calendar packed full of posts. Pretty simple and can be fun for those writing and those reading, really gets you in the Christmas spirit don't you think? At least it does for me, setting up everything, taking photos, buying Christmas themed blog props... I am looking forward to Christmas.

This year I have so many exciting posts prepared that I really enjoyed writing. I know that it can get expensive so I thought I'd share some of my favorite places to get budget friendly gifts too. I also have some posts planned featuring some festive films, series to binge and books to get stuck into over the Christmas holidays. What better thing to do than snuggle up with a good book, film or series right? I mean, I don't need Christmas as an excuse to binge watch Netflix but still.

Towards the end of Blogmas I will be sharing more personal posts like a look back on the year and how this years Blogmas went. That's when we find out if planning ahead actually makes it less stressful. I will also be sharing a few of my favorite Blogmas posts from other bloggers, and possibly even Vloggers. So if you're doing Blogmas or Vlogmas, make sure you let me know in the comments as I'd love to read/watch them. I don't want to give too much away as things can change each day, but this is what I'm hoping for this year.

Now, I am no pro but I have done this before and learned a few things so I thought I'd share a few tips;

  • Don't worry too much about buying stuff. Last year my main worry was that I just couldn't afford to go out and buy all the things I wanted to feature, and I had to feature all the gifts at the begining of December to give people time to buy them. Now I realize that I don't necessarily have to buy everything I want to share with you guys, you can always make wishlist type posts and save yourself some dollah.
  • Not every post has to be Christmas related. Although I love Christmas, it is nice to see a mix of posts. Trying to create Christmas themed posts everyday is a lot of work, and I found that it just burnt me out... So this year I'll be doing a mixture.
  • Try your best to have them scheduled. I found myself writing posts on the day and not being 100% happy with them but feeling the need to publish them anyway, all because I didn't make the most of my time. So this time I plan on scheduling and planning ahead, giving me time to read them back over and edit them before I publish them.
  • Remember to promote them. Having a new post out is great, but if you forget to let everyone know it's there... then you won't get many visitors. I failed miserably at scheduling promotional tweets last year, so I'm hoping to do better with that this year.

These are also tips for myself that I'll probably be coming back to read at some point during December to remind myself.

  2. Thank you for these tips! Promoting my blogposts is something I've only recently have been investing more attention to (which, in hindsight, is a stupid thing not to have incorporated earlier. What did I think? That everyone just magically stumbled upon my blog?).

    Also I'm so with you that not every Blogmas post has to be Christmas related...

    Thank you for your tips and tricks!

    Love,
    Dominique
