My Weekend Off Social Media

I decided to book a few days off work leading up to the bank holiday weekend because my aunt was coming down for the weekend, so I figured that I could use the days before to get some stuff done for the blog. Needless to say, I didn't. I felt so burnt out, tired and I wasn't happy with the content that I was creating, so I decided that it would be a good idea for me to take that weekend off. Blogging and social media really come hand in hand, you definitely need to be an active social media user to promote your posts and get involved with the blogging community, so taking the weekend off of blogging also included social media.

It was nice. For me, blogging is a never ending thing. There is always something to be done, photos, writing posts, preparing posts, scheduling tweets, etc... So even if you spend all day on your blog, there is always more to be done. Don't get me wrong, I love blogging and I love my blog.
I thought I'd miss it more than what I did, it wasn't that bad. It was nice to go out and do things and not share it on social media, to not worry about being active or sharing posts. To be able to just enjoy my time and not have my nose stuck in my phone, it was refreshing and I'd recommend it to anyone who feels like social media is taking over their life.

It is something I'd do again, as now I feel ready for more blogging and I'm slowly getting my mojo back. I'm coming up with post ideas, I've set myself some rules to avoid ending up back in the same situation and I'm feeling more motivated. My mojo wasn't coming back on it's own so I decided to go out and get it back myself. I think that the more things I have to do, the more active I am definitely motivates me and helps me work better. If I come home from work and sit down, that's it. I find it very hard to get up again and get moving, so now I don't allow myself to sit down until I've got some work done. It's working.

Have you ever taken a break from blogging or social media? How'd it go? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I totally get where you're coming from. I sometimes just need me time and I take blogging breaks. I used to feel super guilty about it but then I realized I get super inspired during breaks

  2. Sometimes we just need a break from it all, I get that and I do it often. There are nights during the week where I won't even use my phone or laptop x

  3. What you say is so true! I've done a social media detox as well and blogged about it. I think it's necessary every once in a while. Trying to keep up with Instagram and my blog and everything else just left me miserable and drained. And like you, I love blogging! But sometimes we just need to switch off.

    1. Definitely! Sometimes you can feel a bit too pressured too and it's good to take a step back, breathe and go at it again. x
