Bye Bye Blogging Rut

Not long ago I went through a rut with my blog. I lost all motivation and inspiration, I couldn't think of what to write or what to do. I was finding it difficult to keep up with it all, my writers block was in full swing. Although I still managed to keep posting, I wasn't enjoying it as much... I even cut down my schedule to one post a week.

Now blogging is a huge part of my life, it's not just a something for the weekends. I spend A LOT of time on my blog and I put a lot of thought and hard work into it, so falling into this rut was a big thing for me. I didn't think it would last long, I thought that once I cut my schedule down I would stop feeling so down and get my act together, I was wrong. In the end I decided to take a long weekend away from social media and my blog. It really did help. Once the weekend was over, so were my excuses. I felt so much better and realized that if my motivation wasn't coming back it's own then I'd just have to go get it. I set myself a few rules, like I'm not allowed to sit down on the sofa when I get home from work. I go straight up to my room and get to work, I take photos, plan posts, do my washing, anything but sit down and put Netflix on. Another rule is that I have to write at least one post a day, even if it's not great. It doesn't necessarily have to go live, I just need to keep myself writing. Kind of like a wheel, once it get's started it just keeps picking up speed. That's how writing everyday helps me, it keeps me going. Keeping busy and working hard really motivates me, needless to say that by bed time I'm exhausted but it's so worth it. I feel so much better, so much happier and I feel like I have so much more energy.

I stopped making excuses, I stopped putting things off and saying things like "next month I will..." and started saying things like "Today I am going to...". I write realistic to do lists and I plan out my posts. I AM BACK to the blogging world and feeling better than ever.

So if you feel like you're in a rut, try and follow my steps... It might work for you too.
