The Lip Contour Kit For Spring, but is it any good?

I don't want to jinx it but it looks like spring is finally here. As I'm writing this, the sun is shining outside! About time. You know the best thing about a new season? That it gives you another excuse to buy more unnecessary stuff to review on the blog. New season, new style. Amirite? I am. So today I'm talking all about the "Blushed Bombshell" Maybelline Lip Contour Palette.

First, can I just say that I didn't realize lip contour kits were a thing, much like when I didn't realize eye contour kits were a thing. But I've discovered it now and it kind of makes sense. Contouring your lips is a good way to get fuller looking lips in a quick and easy four-step process. The process being;

Prime: Prime your lips to create the perfect smooth base, helping your lipstick stay put. This also helps if you have slightly dry lips like me, as it does soften them up a bit ready for the lipstick to go on.

Line: The kit comes with a handy little double-ended brush. One end is fine, to help you line your lips, and the other is thicker to help you fill them. I always find that lining my lips makes them look much less Joker-like, but I always forget to do this with normal lipstick.

Colour: Fill your lips with colour using the handy little brush that comes with the kit.

Highlight: Use your finger to dab the highlighter in the centre of your lips. This final touch, in my opinion, is what gives your lips the plump look. Without it the whole process is pointless.
You could probably use the highlighter that comes with this kit with other lipsticks, I have only just thought of that as I'm writing this. So I will give it a go and let you know how I get on.
Anyway, back to the actual product.

As you can see, the kit comes with four different shades of a subtle pink. I'm not one to really wear pink lipsticks, but I quite like these ones. I wear them to work as I feel they make the perfect everyday lipstick and the few times Rosie has seen me wearing them she always compliments me. So they must look alright too.

The shades that come in this kit are all very similar, you can't really tell the difference between them.

Although I do like this kit, I did buy it at a reduced price from Sainsbury's. I looked it up online and its full price is £11.99, which I think is a lot considering most of the shades are pretty similar. Would I buy it full price? No. Why? I just don't think it's worth it considering I could just put a bit of highlighter on my lips with any other lipstick and achieve the same results.

If you can get it reduced, go for it. It's a good addition to add to your lipstick collection and does give your lips a fuller look, but just not good enough to pay nearly £12 for.

Have you tried the Maybelline Lip Contour Kit yet? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.
