£20 Skincare Swap With Rosieslifexo

Skincare products placed on round mirror

A few weeks ago, Rosie and I decided we wanted to do some kind of collab post. So after bouncing around a few ideas, and me moaning that I needed to update my skin care routine, we decided to do a product swap with a £20 budget. Which at first seemed simple, but we both have different skin types and most of the products I've tried and loved, so has Rosie.

So after giving each other a brief on our skin types, and what troubles our skin the most, we got shopping. I'd like to add that Rosie cheated by asking Lauren for recommendations. Yes, I'm a snitch.

Nivea soft tube on mirror

Nivea Soft

We'll start with my favorite product from the bunch, the Nivea Soft moisturizer. When I first saw this I didn't think my skin was going to like it at all. I usually use rather light moisturizers that are aimed at getting rid of spots or blemishes. This Nivea one is a general moisturizer, so you can use it on your entire body

However, as per Rosie's instructions, I started using it every night and was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is a heavier moisturizer than what I usually use and yes, it will leave your skin feeling slightly oily. However, it's worth it. My skin feels amazing lately! It makes it look so full of life and fresh, it's definitely been a life saver with all the cold weather too. The cream has jojoba oil in it that nourishes your skin, and vitamin E that protects your natural moisture balance. Perfect right?

Botanics Radiance balm on round mirror plate

Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm
£7.99

Now to my second favorite, the Botanics Radiance Balm. Rosie picked this one out for me, but was so excited for me to try it that she bought one for herself too. This balm is a water based balm that is said to create a beautiful glow on your skin. You can use it alone, or as a primer under your makeup.

I found that when I used it alone, after a few hours my skin felt rather greasy... Which was disappointing as I loved the glow effect it gave my skin. I much prefer using it as a primer, it gives my makeup that perfect base to go on nicely, and keeps my foundation in place. So I only use it as a primer now, it didn't really work out on it's own.

Neautrogena Rapid spot gel treatment on mirror plate

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Clearing Treatment
£5.35

The Neutrogena rapid treatment gel is said to visibly reduce spots in just 4 hours due to it's patented microclear technology. At the time of getting this my skin was having a lovely breakout, so I was really looking forward to trying this and hoping it'd be some kind of miracle gel that would clear up all my spots. It did not.

I didn't really see much improvement when I was using this gel at all, which is a shame because it does go on under makeup really well. I think I'll be sticking to sudocrem from now on though... it's much more efficient.

Simple micellar water on mirror plate

Simple Water Boost Micellar Water
£6.99

I love a good micellar water, it's honestly the best way to remove makeup. I've tried some other creams but they were too thick and heavy for my delicate skin. This Simple water boost micellar water is aimed at dehydrated, dry or sensitive skin. It gently cleans the skin, while also soothing and instantly re-hydrating your skin.

As hydrated as it may of left my skin, I felt like it took me much longer to remove my makeup with this one. It didn't feel like it was properly cleansing my skin like my Garnier one does. I have been using it on days when I'm not wearing makeup, just to freshen up my skin a bit and give it a little boost. But I don't feel like it does the job when it comes to removing makeup unfortunately.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar on mirror plate

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Face Mask
£11.00

Last but not least the La Roche-Posay Effaclar unclogging purifying sebo-controlling mask, also known as my new favorite face mask for when my skin is feeling a bit oilier than usual.

This mask is formulated with gentle clay that eliminates excess sebum and controls shine on your skin, leaving your skin soothed, purified and pores unclogged. I've been using this at least once a week, and I have seen an improvement in my skin... it rids my skin of the shine it develops and leaves it feeling purified and fresh. I'm a fan of this, and you don't even need to apply that much so it should last you a while.

I enjoyed doing this post, as some of these products I probably would't pick up myself. You can head on over to Rosie's blog too and see what I picked out for her, some of it I'd like to try myself!

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments.
