MOLLY COSMETICS SILISPONGE

At the end of last year, I pre-ordered a Silisponge after seeing it being promoted online, I think it was on Facebook but I can't remember because I have the memory of a fish. I looked into it and thought for £8 it was worth giving it a go. I figured that it would be more hygienic and better for my skin than your usual brush, plus it doesn't soak up all the product meaning your product is more likely to last longer.

My first impression was "this feels really funny, I'm not sure how this is going to blend my foundation" - I was right. Although the idea of it not soaking up the product is great, when you use it it's not as great.

"To use... Use circular or back and forth movement to spread product and tap to blend"

It felt really weird and didn't really blend in the product very well. Due to the shape of the Silisponge, it is also rather difficult to blend round your nose and doesn't really blend it round the hairline or eyes. After using the Silisponge to apply my foundation, I had to use my Real Techniques Stippling brush to actually blend it all in and make sure I'd covered all areas. I also found that using the Silisponge took me twice as long as using a normal foundation brush.

When it comes to cleaning it, it is better than a foundation brush as it can't absorb any product and takes no time at all to clean .

"To clean... Use mild soap to clean, rinse with lukewarm water"

My final thoughts? If you've got really sensitive skin and prone to breakouts, then this could be a good alternative to a brush as it's less likely to collect dirt and bacteria. If not, I wouldn't say it's a must have. I will use it occasionally, seen as I've got it, but probably not when I'm in a rush as it takes me so long to apply foundation with it and blend it all in. So I am still on the hunt for a new foundation brush! If you know any that you think I should try, let me know in the comments.

Have you tried the Silisponge yet?

    1. I guess it depends on the foundation and all of that, but I can't say I'm a fan and I don't think I'll be using it again haha xx
