Fright Night Films

Personally I'm not a fan of scary movies. I wish I was but every time I watch one I end up freaking out over every shadow and sound. I can't live like that so I tend to avoid them but with Halloween coming up and my brother being here, who is a fan of scary movies, I decided to compromise and find films that wouldn't freak me out completely but still had that Halloween vibe to them.

Pride & Prejudice & Zombies

"Slay with pride, kill with prejudice"

First of all we have Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I picked this one because I love that they have made the women strong and kick ass women. The film is violent and about a war between zombies and humans but also has a few love stories along side it making it a great balance. It had a great story to go with it and makes you feel all kinds of emotions all the way through. Also, Matt Smith is in it so what more could you want?

Crimson Peak

"Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak"

Don't ask me why, but I thought this one was about vampires for some reason. It isn't. None the less, it was good. It has a few twists and turns that, for me, were unexpected. It's scary and gruesome but the kind of scary and gruesome that I can handle and not the kind that is going to keep me up for days. Even my brother enjoyed it, he said he liked where it was based, the set I guess you could say. He also said he enjoyed the role that the ghosts played, for my brother to like a film that I picked out... That says a lot.

Trick 'r Treat

"A creepy, darkly comic celebration of the scariest night of the year"

This film was strange. A lot is going on from the start of the film and there are some unexpected twists but it is good. It isn't really scary but is rather gruesome right from the beginning. It's all about Halloween night and the traditions that are meant to be followed. So if you want something Halloweeny, creepy and slightly scary but not over the top, this is a great film.
