Why I Cancelled My Birchbox

A few months ago I started doing Birchbox reviews each month, I had seen the box around and wanted to give it a go and share my thoughts with you guys. I received it for four months and then decided to cancel it.

If you've read the posts, you will know that with the last few boxes I didn't actually manage to try all the products, or I gave them to my Mum to test. This is because I was finding that I was getting sent so many different types of creams that I didn't really have the time to use them all because most of the time they were the same sort of cream. Mostly moisturizing creams. Also, I felt like it wasn't doing my skin any good constantly changing the products that I use on it... one day one product and the next day another, did this really benefit my skin?

I like to try new products so I bought the box in the hopes of discovering new products that I could buy but most of the products in the box were a bit pricey for what they were. A cream would really have to impress me for me to spend £30 on it and as much as I liked the leave in conditioner product, I'm not spending £17 on it when there are products in Superdrug that are just as good for half the price.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Birchbox thing is great. They aim to adapt each box to each person and send you the products that you are most likely to use and enjoy, but it's just not for me. I'm not consistent enough for beauty routines, as much as I'd like to be.

  1. Hi Bethany. I had a similar experience with Glossybox. These boxes are actually quite expensive for what you really get. I hope you don't mind me mentioning this but I find your font incredibly hard to read. xx

    1. Hello! I didn't find it expensive, if you use the products it's good but I didn't really get to use the products. Of course not! Thanks for letting me know, I have already changed it. I hope it's easier to read now :) x

  2. I have been subscribing to Birchbox since November and I do enjoy it and get excited about opening every box, but I know EXACTLY what you mean about the creams. I have a jar of creams I haven't tried out because there is at least one in every box I have had so far. So it would be amazing to get a box without a cream in it - just for a wee while until I use up all the others.

    1. I definitely get what you mean, the surprise was nice but the collection of unused creams isn't great. x

  3. I feel that Birchbox haven't had that many good boxes this year whereas Glossybox seem to do a good one every month xx
